Nancy Campbell is the principal of Campbell Consulting, a leadership development firm that supports public and non-profit leaders to recognize and develop their leadership capacity. She joined the Evans School of Public Affairs in 1994 and has assisted with the development and delivery of the mid-career and executive masters programs. She provides leadership development for Hubert H. Humphrey and Packard Gates Population Leadership fellows and teaches in Cascade Executive Programs for Public Service.
Nancy loves watching students at the Evans School develop their leadership skills, abilities and gifts. Through assessment, teaching and coaching, Nancy helps students to increase their self-awareness and self-management skills. Nancy's teaching interests include: leading high-impact change, effective influencing, leading with integrity, strategic thinking, and succession and transition planning. Nancy is certified in many assessment inventories including: BarOnEQi®, FIROB®, Skillscope®, Leadership Practices Inventory®, and the Team Assessment Inventory.
Nancy has more than two decades of experience as an executive in both public and nonprofit agencies. A well-known speaker and lecturer in the field of criminal justice, she is a graduate of the School of Criminal Justice at the State University of New York at Albany. She served as the director of community corrections for the states of Colorado and Washington. She has been director of the King County Department of Youth Services and of The Community Responsibility Center, a non-profit residential community corrections program. Nancy was also executive director of the Northwest AIDS Foundation.
When she's not helping create better leaders, Nancy has fun watching her daughter, Mara, grow up. With a household menagerie that includes a horse, Nancy's life is never dull. Gardening is one of Nancy's favorite avocations when family and work allow.
