Michele Hasson

 

Michele Hasson has more than 20 years of development experience in the non-profit sector. She is currently the interim Development Director at the Seattle Art Museum responsible for all contributed income producing programs with an annual goal of $7+ million. Assisting senior management with strategies on annual fund development and capital campaign goals, she oversees a development group of 25, including campaign staff. She has facilitated updates to the museum’s finance and data management systems.

 

Prior to this, Michele was the Director of Development at Seattle Opera (1996-2005) and responsible for all contributed income programs including annual fund goals (50% of company's $20 million budget) as well as special campaigns such as the $10.5 million Ring Fund and Seattle Opera's participation in the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall's $125 million renovation campaign.

 

Michele came to work in the arts from being the Director of Development at AIDS Housing of Washington from 1988 to 1993 where she directed the $8 million campaign to build Bailey-Boushay House, the nation's first nursing residence and adult health program for people living with AIDS. Bailey-Boushay House is now in its 15th year of operation.

 

Michele has been a frequent presenter at Northwest Development Officer Association meetings and has presented at the national Opera America conference (2003) and the Association of Jewish Family & Children Services. She is a past member of the Board of Directors of United Way of King County, Jewish Family Service, Seattle Girls School, and American Jewish Committee. She currently is Co-Chair of the Leadership Council for PATH, a global health organization.

 

She is the proud recipient of the 1997 Anti-Defamation League Community Service Award, 1997 Jewish Women's Endowment Foundation/Shirley Bridge Power of One Award, and the 2005 Northwest Development Officers Association Professional Achievement Award.

 

Michele and her husband, David, live in downtown Seattle and spend some of their time at their home in Sayulita, Mexico.
