Cory Sbarbaro

Cory is founder and principal of Turnpoint Consulting, an independent firm dedicated to deepening the impact of progressive nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest. Cory brings extensive management, leadership, and research experience to his consulting engagements with nonprofit organizations. His areas of expertise include interim leadership, organizational assessment, strategy development, executive coaching, and board effectiveness. Since 2002, Cory has guided a diverse range of organizations through complex and challenging organizational transitions.

 

In addition to his work as consultant, Cory is a Senior Advisor at the Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits & Philanthropy, which he helped launch in 2004. He was co-creator of the Pacific Northwest Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute--an intensive, five-day learning experience for senior-level nonprofit professionals--and currently serves as lead instructor for the program. Cory teaches in the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program offered through University of Washington Extension, and serves as a trainer for United Way of King County and the Nonprofit Center of South Puget Sound.

 

Cory is a member of Solutions for Good, a consortium of local consultants that provides a broad range of expertise to benefit the nonprofit and public sectors. He is also a member of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management's Board Governance Affinity Group, and in 2007 served as a Beta Tester for the Alliance's Ethical Standards in Nonprofit Capacity Building. Cory is a contributing author to the current edition of How to Form and Maintain a Nonprofit Corporation in the State of Washington (2008), and the author of Social Venture Partners' Replication (2002), a case study focused on nonprofit replication and the evolution of the Social Venture Partners international network.

 

Cory is a graduate of the Evans School of Public Affairs, where he earned an MPA degree with a focus in public and nonprofit management, organizational development, and financial affairs. He is also a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow. Cory is actively engaged in community affairs, and currently serves on the Board of Solid Ground.
