Public-service leaders today face a critical challenge: managing complex organizations and relationships in an era of scarce resources and competing priorities. This challenge requires senior managers to maintain a state of continuous learning. It is no longer enough to supplement an early university education with on-the-job experience. Senior leaders are recognizing they need more. Leaders of government agencies and nonprofit agencies are now embracing the idea of continued learning at the executive level.

Cascade Executive Programs, founded in 1984, is the executive education arm of the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington, and is a nationally recognized education provider for the public and nonprofit sectors.

Mission Statement
The mission of Cascade Executive Programs is to promote innovative and effective leadership in public and nonprofit service by providing professional development opportunities to strengthen management, leadership, policymaking, and analytical skills.

Cascade is a nationally recognized management training center offering over 25 different leadership courses for senior and midlevel managers. Cascade programs are designed to help on-the-job managers and leaders develop their skills, make their programs more effective, and increase customer and employee satisfaction.

The Evans School of Public Affairs
The Evans School at the University of Washington is ranked among the top 20 of the more than 250 schools of public policy and public affairs in the nation by the most recent U.S. News & World Report survey. Our graduates serve as mayors, elected officials, public-agency directors, policy and budget analysts, community organizers, policy advocates for environmental and social policy issues, media and press-relations specialists, researchers, and nonprofit leaders and managers. Although each member of our community works to accomplish different specific objectives, what we share is a dedication to making the world a better place.

We are committed to improving the quality of public and nonprofit service. We strive to educate leaders to meet community challenges with compassion, vision, analytic rigor, and practicality. We pursue research and ideas that work to strengthen sound public policy and management. We are dedicated to serving the community and promoting thoughtful and civil public deliberation. We value integrity, respect, and excellence in our own institution, in our graduates, and in the community.
